Shri B.V.V.Sangha's Basaveshwar Engineering College
The Basaveshwar Engineering College was started in the year 1963 offering bachelor degrees in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering affiliated to Karnataka University, Dharwad. At present it offers the degree programs in ten disciplines and five post graduate programs. The College is a Government aided institution affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum in Karnataka and approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.College campus is well laid on an elevated stretch of land of over 100 hectares on the outskirts of the city and is adjoining to New Bagalkot town. The college has an administrative block, Lecture hall complex, various departmental buildings, Library, hostels, staff quarters, cafeteria, etc. An auditorium and a conference hall with seating capacities of 350 and 100 respectively are on the campus green and cheerful. Human Resource in the college comprises of qualified and dedicated staff.
Shri Basaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangha was founded by his Holiness, Shri Gurubasava Mahaswamiji of Bilur, a visionary far ahead of his times, in the year 1906. At present, the sangha has a network of 90 educational institutions from creche to Post graduate/Research levels, spread over the districts of Bagalkot & Belgaum in Karnataka state. The wide range of Institutions cover the disciplines of Engineering, Medical Sciences, Arts, Science, Commerce and Law, besides Pre primary, primary and high schools. The clarity of vision and untiring efforts of the founder and subsequent administrators have gone a long way in shaping the destiny of this premier educational organization over these nine decades, catering to the societal needs. Thus, making a worthy contribution to the development of the country. Affairs of the Sangha are managed by the managing committee headed by the chairman along with the honorary secretary.
