College Details:

Bangalore Institute of Technology, Bangalore came into existence in August, 1979 under the help of Vokkaligara Sangha, Bangalore.

The institute is an engineering college offering undergraduate and graduate engineering courses, associated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum located in the heart of Bangalore, the "Electronic City" and Silicon Valley of India. BIT is currently placed as the best college affiliated to VTU.

The institute initially offered the Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation Technology, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical, Information Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management.

The institute was the first institute to introduce a full-fledged Computer Science and Engineering course in Karnataka. It is recognized by the AICTE and has been accredited by NBA. At present the college offers ten undergraduate, three post graduates and a PhD course(s) with a student body of more than 2500.

Course Description:

MCA course is an interdisciplinary 3-year PG course. The course is designed to develop high quality IT professionals to meet the ever changing industry challenges and requirements.

MCA is a Post Graduation program having six semesters. The syllabus of first semester is framed with the subjects that provide a base for the rest of the semesters in an effective way to impart skills and knowledge about the subjects. In second and third semesters, core Computer Science subjects are introduced with programming practical labs.

MCA course involves the study of system management and development system engineering application software internet management information systems software development troubleshooting hardware technology networking etc.

MCA Department:

The department was started in the year 1997 and has highly skilled, qualified and experienced faculty members. With an annual intake of 60 students.

The department has been progressively working towards producing masters who are well equipped to serve the needs of the present and the future industry requirement and in turn contributing to the society.

Some of the more important subjects include: Software Engineering, OOD, Computer Organization and Architecture, Unix, System Programming, DBMS, Computer Graphics, Client/Server, Wireless & Mobile Communication, Web Applications, Microprocessors.

Eligibility-

Applicants must have passed 3 years bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized university with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate( 45% marks in case of Karnataka SC/ST/Cat-1 candidates) of all subjects including languages.

Must have studied mathematics/business mathematics/statistics/computer science/computer applications/computer programming as one of optional/elective subjects. If not studied in degree must have passed one of the subjects in the PUC/10+2 equivalents.
