Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology
(Commonly referred to as Sir MVIT),Bangalore was set up in the year 1986. The
institute is an ISO 9001:2000 Certified Institution.
The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (V.T.U) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education
(AICTE), New Delhi and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA),
New Delhi.
The institute is an Institute of repute in the state of
Karnataka founded by Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust in 1986.
It is also ranked under top 25 engineering colleges of India
and rated AAA amongst India’s Best Engineering Colleges.
The institute offers nine B.E. degree programs in Civil,
Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication,
Computer Science & Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management,
Telecommunication, Information Science and Bio Technology and four Masters
Programs in Computer Applications, Business Administration, Computer Integrated
Manufacturing and Electronics.
Master of Computer Applications (MCA):
Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a three-year (Six
Semester) program after the graduation. This course has been designed to cope
with the ever-increasing demand for computer personnel in almost all
occupations, especially in the IT sector.
MCA course is the most popular choice of Indian students who
are looking for a bright career in the IT sector. This course can be joined
after completion of BCA course. Many students also join that course because BCA
does not offer as many career options as MCA course offers. Moreover, it gives
only a fundamental knowledge of computer languages, which is not sufficient for
getting a wonderful job in IT sector. Besides this, it does not give optimized
environment which MCA offers. Therefore, MCA course has its own significance.
MCA Department:
The department was started in the year 1998 with an annual
intake of 30 students and subsequently enhanced to 60. Over the years, the
department has established well-equipped laboratory with internet facility and
excellent library.
The department offers an excellent academic environment to
boost complete personality development, increase the capabilities and confidence of both the
teachers and students to take up the challenges of the dynamic socio-technical
world. The department has organized
Seminar series by eminent personalities from industry, academia and from
Professional bodies.
The department has organized various workshops to upgrade
the technical and teaching skills of the staff. The dept. encourages
participating in National/International conferences to present papers and
learning upcoming knowledge.
The department has published research papers around 30 in
number including IEEE publications in various Journals and conferences. To
support creativity amongst the students it brought forth the departmental forum
called “PRAYOG” and organized an event “CHITRAKA”, to showcase the hidden
artistic talents. Other activities like ALUMNI Meet was conducted to interact
with Alumni of MVIT and to get an idea about the future professional path. The
department to its credit has also set up a unique academic talent recognition
and awarding scheme called VIDYAABHIVAKTI, to motivate the students of academic
excellence.
Placement:
- Minimum 35 to 40 top companies visit to the college every year between 90% to 100% students are placed. The placement covers all branches.
- In Companies like CUMMINS, CATERPILLAR, QUEST GLOBAL, CAPARO, L&T & NCC URBAN etc with package as high as 6.5 lakhs & 4.6 lakhs per annum
- 313 Students picked up by COGNIZANT during 2011 batch
- WIPRO Technologies visited to college 2 times for recruitment of 2010 batch students. On their first visit on 5/6/2010, the company picked up 84 students & second time they visited on 21/8/2010 for left over students.
- 19 MCA students got selected under “Internship cum placement package” by Aricent, Fidelity, Cerner & Accenture through campus recruitment drives of our placement cell in 2010-2011. During internship these students will get stipend ranging between 5000/ to 20000/ per month..
- 37 CIVIL students got placed in L&T & 12 in NCC urban in campus interview conducted in our college.

Bachelor degree (with min. 50%)
Admission Criteria:
Candidates who have passed the Bachelor degree examinations
with not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the
degree examination or equivalent.
